Building sustainability in sourcing and manufacture across the international textile industry

July 20th, 2021

The Northern Clothing and Textile Network is.. virtually.. back on 17 September 2021

We originally postponed our March 2021 Northern Clothing and Textile Network as hoped we could all be together in person for the first reunion, however, we are now..virtually…back with an online ‘Zoom’ approach!

Join us for our next Northern Clothing and Textile Network event and hear from leading textile and clothing specialists on some of the latest cutting-edge technologies and exciting developments shaping the future of the sector.

This event is aimed at those businesses wanting to improve their manufacturing capabilities and use of digital technology and helping them expand their Supply Chain, with regards to suppliers and clients.

It’s also a great way to make new contacts in the industry, and to share ideas, projects, problems or just a business card. Because you never know.

Speakers include –

Graham Davies , Shima Seiki

Almost 60 years after launching the worlds first fully automated glove knitting machine, Shima Seiki are still at the forefront of automated knitting technology, holding true to their vision of ‘creating things that do not exist in the world.’ Their products include knitting machines, design systems, fabric printers, and WHOLEGARMENT that knits in three dimensions to produce knitwear without seams.

Graham will be presenting the future of textiles manufacturing including digital development of knitted structures and virtual product development in 2D and 3D using the Apex 4 Design System. He will also be showcasing their latest 3D knitted samples from a range of product areas including footwear, wearable tech, industrial and household items. This will be followed by a demonstration by Lucy Whitehouse of the Apex Design System.

Sally Smallwood, WRECKREATION

From her design studio in Annfield Plain, Sally and her team design and handmake some of the most amazing garments you’ve ever seen, taking inspiration from motor racing and sci-fi, with a healthy dose of Nietzsche thrown in for good measure. Given some of her sources of inspiration, it’s no surprise that she recently caught the eye of the Shelby Corporation, home of the legendary AC Cobra, GT 500 and other iconic muscle cars.

Sally will be giving us an update on her recent trip to the US, and share some of the inspiration behind her latest Shelby inspired range.
